Will there be HAZING?

One of the biggest concerns people ask us about is hazing. There isn’t room in our brotherhood for hazing. In Sigma Alpha Mu we have a strict no hazing policy and have zero tolerance for it. We look to build our brothers up to be respectable and confident men, and hazing gets in the way of that process. It makes little sense to tear our new members down if we are trying to build them up to their greatest potential.

Our fraternity is definitely one of the more affordable organizations on campus. For new members, the initial payment is $850. The majority of this first payment goes toward registering a new member as well as setting up insurance for them. After that first semester, the payments reduce to $700 a semester that goes toward insurance as well as helping to fund fraternity events, apparel, and philanthropy supplies. *As a side note: Sigma Alpha Mu offers a multitude of scholarships to help cover payments, as well as help, pay for college tuition. All are readily available to all SAM members. *

What is the process of joining?

When a non-member shows an interest in our fraternity our protocol is to invite them to events in order to allow them to meet the brothers and get a feel for what we are about as a group. If everything goes well they will receive a bid card, which is an offer to join our brotherhood. If accepted, they will go through our new candidate education program. When they pass this course and prove to be an upstanding individual, they will be initiated as a member into our fraternity.
